We create and maintain metadata that enables datasets we hold and manage to be discoverable and useable by ourselves, the wider GiGL partnership, and others. Metadata is data that provides information about other data. The metadata adequately describe the datasets wherever they are held and enable them to be managed well.
Data are the backbone of GiGL’s operations, and the metadata are an important part of delivering services, aiding the interpretation of data we hold, and managing the data.
The CSV file download on this page holds a snapshot of most of the species surveys added to GiGL’s collective holdings. We are working to add the more recently added surveys to this list. If you have a question about a particular survey please get in contact with the team.
For more information about the structure of the data we manage please see the GiGL Data Guide.
