Despite its location by the A1 main road, this site has a surprisingly rural quality. This stems partly from its old hedgerows dating from the area’s agricultural past. There is free public access via a kissing gate from Page Street and from the public footpath on Copthall Playing Fields.

Description
Wildlife
Oak, ash, and field maple trees stand above typical hedgerow shrubs, such as common and Midland hawthorns, blackthorn, grey willow, dog-rose and field-rose. A fair variety of common wildflowers grow alongside, for example cow parsley, lords-and ladies, garlic mustard and lesser celandine. The open fields contain typical wildflowers of clay grassland such as meadow vetchling, meadow buttercup, common sorrel and common vetch, with creeping jenny weaving its way along the ground. Stands of tall herbs such as Michaelmas-daisy and Canadian golden-rod add further colour. In the northern field, a small plot of native woodland has been planted by Watling Chase Community Forest.Facilities
