Description

West Ham Park is by far the largest open space in central Newham borough, with many fine mature trees.The park won a Green Flag Award again for 20089. Newham Striders use this site – a Walking the Way to Health (WHI) scheme; see link for details.

Wildlife

Among the numerous large mature trees are examples of lime, London plane and horse-chestnut. Breeding birds, attracted by the large trees, include nuthatch and tawny owl. Dense shrubberies in the formal gardens provide further habitat for birds. A tiny, formal pond has yellow iris, and contains goldfish.
