Barking Road Recreation ground is a flat grassed area with mature trees, a multi-use games area, a five aside football pitch for casual use, a trim trail and a children’s play area with some wheelchair accessible play equipment. The gates at the western entrance on Barking Road are dedicated to Albert Monk ‘as a tribute to his memory and his life-long service to the youth of the Borough’ according to a plaque dated 17 September 1955.
