Species verification is the process of assessing a record and deciding whether the identification is likely to be correct for the given location and date. This requires species experts and our verifiers have a really indepth knowledge of their chosen taxa, particularly within Greater London. Each record is given a verification status by the verifier and this is recorded in the GiGL species database.
