Description
Wildlife
The grassland is dominated by Yorkshire fog and creeping bent, and hosts a large population of narrow-leaved birds-foot-trefoil, which is rare in London. There are also patches of naturally developed hawthorn and grey willow scrub. These, together with the planted woodland of alder and birch, provide ideal nesting opportunities for common birds. In the water-filled ditch on the eastern edge of the site grow common reed, great reedmace, great willowherb, gypsywort and hemlock water-dropwort. Birds breeding here include the declining song thrush and in the ditch, reed warbler, coot and moorhen. The site also supports several species of dragonflies, and may well provide habitat for water voles.Facilities
