Description
Wildlife
The southern edge of the park, beside Shepherd's Hill, is wooded. The woodland contains some fine mature pedunculate oaks. A rather sparse shrub layer includes hazel, hawthorn and wild plum, as well as box-flowered honeysuckle, an unusual garden escape. The ground flora is dominated by cow parsley and bramble, and also has male-fern, garlic mustard and another rare garden escape, yellow-flowered strawberry. The rest of the park is largely amenity grassland, though this is allowed to grow longer than in many parks, and contains a reasonable range of wildflowers, including bird's-foot trefoil, meadow buttercup, black medick and autumn hawkbit.Facilities
