Pinner Memorial Park
Borough: Harrow
Grade: Local
Access: Free public access (all/most of site)
Area: 5.04 ha

Description

This attractive and popular open space contains a variety of wildlife habitats, including a large pond, tiny patches of woodland, hedges and plenty of mature trees.

Wildlife

The very wide variety of trees, both native and exotic, recalls an arboretum. A stand of large pines gives shelter for birds such as goldcrest and coal tit, which favour conifers. There are mixed hedgerows with trees around most of the park's perimeter, with rough grassland and occasional small scrubby copses. The artificial pond is popular with the bird-feeding public, to the benefit of mallards, geese and gulls.
