Description
Wildlife
Most of the site is covered in sparse grassland dominated by barren brome and squirrel's-tail fescue. Intermingled are a variety of wildflowers, including mugwort, creeping thistle, perennial wall rocket, hoary mustard, hawkweed oxtongue, ribwort plantain and great mullein. There is also a sprinkling of hare's-foot clover - a locally uncommon plant in London. In this part of the site there are good numbers of grasshoppers and butterflies, including meadow brown and gatekeeper. There are areas of (sometimes dense) scrub in the north of the site. Species comprise buddleia, hawthorn, Cotoneasters, blackthorn, bramble and goat willow. The site also has a few scattered trees, including London plane, whitebeam and Lombardy poplar. A good range of common birds is also seen here.Facilities
