Description
Wildlife
The main wildlife interest is found in the belt of trees and shrubs along the southwestern edge. These were planted after the park was created in 1983, and consist of native species such as hornbeam, aspen, elder, ash and dog-rose, as well as a selection of ornamentals. While they have matured well, noise from the road is still intrusive.Elsewhere in the park's western half is a meadow containing a wide range of common wildflowers, although regular mowing probably prevents them from flowering for long. The rest of the park consists of mown grass, with a mixture of mature trees and saplings, as well as a playground and other amenity features. Towards the eastern edge is a raised brick bed, now containing a number of semi-mature trees as well as common wildflowers.Facilities
Historic features; Playground; sculptures/ monuments.
