Description

This informal open space is an area of rough ground on the northern edge of the Waterhead housing estate with a mosaic of scrub rough grassland. The site is part of the Erith Park redevelopment and was due to be enhanced as part of this development.

Wildlife

The well-developed roughland consists of a mosaic of hawthorn and bramble scrub and false oatgrass dominated grassland, where the locally scarce hairy St John's-wort can be found. The north slope supports a variety of ruderal plants. The site supports suitable habitat for breeding garden birds and invertebrates. Kestrels regularly hunt over the site, suggesting the presence of small mammals and/or reptiles.
