Description

This area of regenerated woodland lies on a very steep west-facing slope at the northern edge of Biggin Hill. It includes areas under both council and in private ownership. A number of rights of way run through the woodland.

Wildlife

This varied woodland lies partly on the chalk, and is primarily of ash but also oak, beech, yew and sycamore. A diverse shrub layer contains field maple, wild cherry, holly, hazel and hawthorn. While most of the ground flora is dominated by bramble and ivy, the woodland to the north has some ancient woodland indicator species including bluebell, yellow archangel, dog's mercury and wood melic.
