This Square is one of the largest in central London and contains many mature trees. It is open to the public during daylight hours. Russell Square won a Green Flag Award in 2008-9.

Wildlife
The most common tree at this site is London plane, mainly found at the perimeter and in the centre. Other trees include common lime, beech, oak, false acacia, tree-of-heaven, hawthorn and holly. A hornbeam hedge has been planted at the site's boundary, and there are several shrubberies.Facilities
