Plumstead Cemetery was established by the Woolwich Burial Board in 1890. Covering a large area, it is mostly made up of grassland. There is free public access to the cemetery, and the Green Chain Walk passes the entrance to the site.

Description
Wildlife
Much of the grassland is close-mown, lying between carefully tended graves. A good deal of this is acidic in character, and sheep's sorrel, cat's-ear and mouse-ear hawkweed grow amongst common bent and sheep's fescue. Other, rarer grasses include early hair-grass and heath-grass. In contrast to this, the grassland in one part of the cemetery appears to have a chalk influence. Here, fairy flax, common centaury and rough hawkbit, all scarce in London, grow.Facilities
