Description
Wildlife
The lake in this park is one of the largest water bodies in the area. Waterfowl nesting on the large wooded island include mallards, Canada geese, tufted ducks, coots and moorhens, as well as a small collection of captive birds. These are joined in winter by small numbers of shovelers. Mute swans visit occasionally. A small area in the north-east corner of the park is designated as a nature conservation area, for use by local schools. Here there is a small pond, a meadow and planted scrub and woodland. The rest of the park is attractively landscaped with a large variety of trees and some extensive shrubberies. These provide ideal nesting opportunities for a range of resident birds, including song thrush. These are joined by passing migrants in spring and autumn.Facilities
