Description

This former gravel pit features a number of wildlife habitats, including an attractive lake.

Wildlife

The lake is fringed with reeds, with areas of willow woodland. The rough grassland around the lake supports several interesting wildflowers, including bee orchid. The site supports a good range of birds, including common waterfowl and kingfisher on the lake and several warbler species in the reeds and woodland. Good populations of frogs and toads breed in the various wetlands.
