Situated at Paradise Park in the heart of the borough, Freightliners is Islington’s only city farm and an important facility for local schools. Founded in 1973 on wasteland behind Kings Cross station, the farm originally kept the animals in railway goods vans, which gave the farm its name. It moved to the current site in 1978.Staff encourage voluntary community involvement in animal husbandry and make much of their produce available for sale. An impressive tiled mural at the entrance of the farm features interpretations of drawings by local children in a Na?ve style. Paradise Park won a Green Flag Award again in 20089.Opening times for the farm: AutumnWinter: 10am – 4pm. SpringSummer: 10am – 4.45pm. Closed Mondays, except for bank holidays.
