Wildlife

Archbishop's Park is a popular local park in an Area of Deficiency with much of its area comprising hard-surface games pitches and amenity grassland. However, renovation of the park has seen the introduction of new shrub and bedding areas surrounded by grassland at the southern end, which have been designed and are managed to help encourage wildlife. This area also boasts a dry stone wall planted up with stonecrops and colonised by ruderals which is very attractive to invertebrates. There are avenues of mature plane, beech, lime and horse-chestnut above borders of exotic shrubs throughout the park. Taken together these attract a variety of birds including jay, wren, robin and mistle thrush, the latter being rather scarce in central London.
