Description

High Broom Wood is an ancient woodland with a rich plant life. The site includes a section of the River Beck, which flows northwards through the wood at the bottom of steep-sided natural banks. Higher ground in the east of the site supports coppiced sweet chestnut trees with taller, older oak trees. The lower parts of the wood are dominated by alder and contain several areas that accumulate water (wet flushes).

Wildlife

The diverse ground-level plant life includes several London rarities, such as moschatel, Solomon's-seal, marsh-marigold, common valerian and opposite-leaved golden-saxifrage.

Facilities

Bromley Council Countryside and Parks Service run walks and talks in the wood.
