Description

Immediately west of suburban Putney, Putney Lower Common adjoins the much larger Barnes Common, a Metropolitan site. The Beverley Brook runs along its northern edge and Putney Cemetery is also included. The cemetery is open every day between 10am-4pm, with extended hours in the summer.

Wildlife

Putney Lower Common presents a mixture of neutral and amenity grassland, together with scattered scrub and some trees. These habitats provide ideal habitat for a good range of common birds and other animals.Putney Cemetery features a number of fine mature trees, with grassland between the graves. An interesting community of mosses, lichens and stonecrops grow on the tombstones.
