These two small central London squares provide examples of interesting approaches to urban nature conservation. Although close to one another and with similar habitats, they are maintained in subtly different ways; Warwick Square adopts something of a more low-key approach, while Eccleston Square is slightly more formal. Eccleston Square is open on Sundays from 2pm-5pm, and Warwick Square from 11am-5pm. There is additional opening of both Squares on an ad hoc basis including National Gardens Scheme open days.

Description
Wildlife
Both squares have mature London plane and sycamore trees, and Warwick Square also has lime and holly. In Eccleston Square, the mature trees are extensively underplanted with a range of smaller trees, including unusual species such as medlar, mulberry and foxglove-tree. The garden contains a huge diversity of both evergreen and deciduous shrubs, as well as wildflowers, such as primrose, bluebell and fritillary. A fern garden includes examples of royal fern. Other plants, such as garlic mustard and deadly nightshade, have probably colonised naturally. Robin, wren, dunnock, blackbird, blue tit, song thrush and probably blackcap breed at the garden. No less than fifty species of fungi have been recorded. Beneath the trees in Warwick Square is a broad band of shrubbery on the perimeter, and several mounds also planted with shrubs. There are a number of naturally colonised wildflowers, including wood avens, green alkanet, lesser celandine and springbeauty. Male fern and soft shield-fern are also present. Blue tit, great tit, wren, blackbird, robin, song thrush and dunnock breed in the garden, and migrants such as willow warbler regularly pass through.Facilities
