Description

This is a pleasant public garden, adjoining Victoria Embankment just to the south of Hungerford Bridge. Victoria Embankment Gardens has won a Green Flag Award for several years, including 20089.

Wildlife

There are a number of old trees including London plane, tree-of-heaven, lime and some particularly fine Indian bean-trees growing as specimen trees in the lawn. The shrubbery includes small areas of older-style Victorian planting, but also much recent replanting with a greater variety of flowering and berry-bearing shrubs. A naturalistic planting of ornamental woodland flowers is being developed under the shrubs. There is an immaculate lawn. Breeding birds include dunnock, starling, blackbird and carrion crow.
